"The scope as I removed it from the box appears well constructed
and the finish is nice. I also noticed the power ring is firm
to turn, making it seem the tolerances are good. The clicks also
have a nice feel to them. Looking through the scope at various
objects, I noticed quickly the view is quite clear and bright.
The objective coating eliminates most glare although no scope
can eliminate all glare. The black flip up lens covers are a nice
feature to protect it.
As for the features the Illuminated reticle is nice as it is center
lit and has a subtle low setting on one so it does not drown things
out. Also the target style turrets allow for bullet drop, although
with 1/8 moa clicks, that only allows for 8 inches before the
knob is rotated around, so a further than 100 yard sight in is
recommended for those looking to shoot out to 600 yards or more.
The range of adjustment is also acceptable and the locking feature
is nice. I also get the feeling while locked the knobs are somewhat
protected as a slight accidental blow would be supported by the
scope tube not only the shaft going to the inner tube. The side
parallax knob is also nice and has numbers marked from 10 yards
for either air gunners or hunters that have the chance to get
up close and out to infinity (although numbered to 500).
Rifle specs:
Model-Howa 1500
Work done- Barrel is free floated, trigger parts polished for
improved pull
Bases: Warne steel weaver style bases
Rings: Leupold 30mm PRW
30-06 caliber, although not the largest does make enough recoil
on a bolt action to make many low quality scopes not hold zero,
this one not only helped zero consistently, it tracked so well,
rivaling scope costing many times as much. When looking at the
adjustments with my boresighter, I noticed they are also extremely
straight and independent of each other, another high mark.
All shots at the first shooting session with this scope were initially
at 100 yards, rested on sandbags on a secure bench. The groups
achieved during sight in were very small, not only an indication
of rifle accuracy but also the scope was very good at holding
zero. Also between the lowest and highest power the shift was
only slight, 1.25 inches to be exact, which is acceptable. Also
white sighting in the rifle the tracking was just as I expected
from looking at it with the boresighter, very strait, and independent.
The first 3 shot group was very excellent, about .4inches, very
sub moa. I made a adjustment lower, and took a shot, then made
adjustments to the right, and took 2, as you can see they are
very close to each other as well, then I went right even more
and took 4, 6 if you include 2 I know I flinched some on 2 shots
as the range was very busy.
This is the rifle with the 8-32x 56mm scope I bought installed
after the range testing, and with the ammo I used. Keep in mind
its just Federal ammo, which I have had good luck with, but many
would say handloads are better. The rifle is a Howa model 1500,
that I have free floated and adjusted the trigger for 3.5 lbs
of pull with very little creep. The bases are Warne steel bases
and the Rings are Leupold PRW 4 bolt 30 mm steel rings. I actually
purchased your 30mm 4 bolt accushot rings, and they are good quality,
but did not fit my bases as the rod going through them didn't
fit the slot in my bases.
Overall I am so pleased with this combo, as are others, that both
shooters next to me at the range were impressed with my groups
and asked what kinda of scope I had. The guy to the left had a
Howa 1500 .270 with a Zeiss scope and the guy to the right had
a remington 700 .308 with a Leupold scope. I proudly told them
a Leapers Accushot and gave them both the info on where to buy
one. With what they had seen, I think I made two believers that
day. I hope you get these pictures and receive this email well,
as you truly have a happy customer that will continue to use your
products for years."
